What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen - This book was another book that I picked up off of the shelf because it looked it. I was happy with it, but it did leave me a bit dissatisfied. Maybe it is because I am a mid 20 something reading YA novels, but I really just wanted a bit more satisfaction with the romantic aspect. It was a pretty good love story, but all I wanted was a kiss or even holding hands, and it did not deliver. I loved the story of self discovery and navigating the bath of high school life. It is however a book that a part of me wishes there was a follow up, but maybe that is just me getting too attached to fictional characters.
Temptation by Nora Roberts - This book was nice. Much better on the smut level than the Susan Mallery books that I was enjoying the love stories is. I will certainly be reading more Nora Roberts thanks to this book, even though it was a light read and very predictable, I enjoyed the camp setting and the romance of it all.
The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks - I read this book so I could watch the movie. I was very disappointed with it. All I wanted was a happy ending and I feel like it was anything but. I also feel like a book can not be concluded in an epilogue. If you finished at the last chapter you would be HIGHLY dissatisfied. The epilogue at least gave a little closure. I just despise a horrible ending.
The Vacationers by Emma Straub - This book received high praise in a number of magazines I read and even a few celebrities had it on their summer reading list. I have no idea why. I found this book to be less than satisfactory as it was all over the place, had little character development and was attempting to tell too many stories all at once. I feel like the concept could have been great, but it did not live up to expectations or the potential.
Panic in Pittsburgh by Roy MacGregor - I have been a HUGE Roy MacGregor and Screech Owls fan since forever. Well actually since the third grade when I got the second book at the book fair. I have been obsessed since. I actually wrote Roy a letter in grade nine english and he wrote back. It was pretty awesome. So anyways, the book was as good as a book that's target audience is almost 20 years younger than me. I love that the Screech Owls are still going strong. The book was also of particular interest since I spent my past birthday in Pittsburgh and therefore understood all of the locations that they were discussing in the book.
