This month I clearly did not get a lot of reading accomplished, between the weather getting nicer, working more awkward shifts then normal and lots and lots of boot camp I guess reading just got pushed down on the priorities. I think next month might be a bit better as I am 3/4 done a few different books right now.
Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (and other concerns) by Mindy - This book started wonderful. I however had no idea who Mindy was (I have seen a total of two episodes of the office and hated it) but I enjoyed the witty comments and actually laughed out loud a couple of times. There is however a lot of name dropping and when I don't know a single the Office character or actor I was slightly lost at times. Yes I can still laugh at the fact that she got in a fight with her boss and then stole a case of water before storming off, I do however feel like a part of it is lost on me because I am thinking, 'who is this? Should I google him? Should I google her? I feel like I am missing a part of the story. I wish these were not real people.'. And in the end I am left extremely confused. She is a very funny girl however and I enjoyed this book about her struggles and the reality that nothing is as glamorous as it appears.
Take Four by Karen Kingsbury- I cannot say I love these books enough. I love everything about them. The way they are written you cannot help but feel a connection when you are reading. You feel like you know the characters and have invested in their lives. Not going to lie but I actually texted this to a friend when I was almost done reading the books 'Almost finished reading the book Take Four and not going to lie, I want Bailey to end up with Brandon. Just wanted to share that.' So yes I am invested into their lives that I feel like I have a say in who they should end up with. I love the story and the characters. These are a must read.
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by JK Rowlings- I again listened to these books and again fell in love. I think this is the just the second time reading/listening to this book and I loved it. There were so many small aspects that are not portrayed in the movie and with good reason, if they were the movie would have been like 10 hours long or more. The thing that irked me however was the major difference in the book/movie that the Burrow (where the Weasley's live) never did get set on fire. I was also re-watching the movies the other day and was extraordinarily vocal in my frustration of the added and unnecessary scene.
No More Diapers for Ducky by Bernette Ford- My niece is soon to be potty trained. She goes sometimes, not others. I saw this book at the library the other day and could not help myself so during break I actually sat down and read it. (spoiler alert) I am very proud of ducky for taking the leap and going on the potty, it was very captivating there for a while.
